A downloadable mod for Windows and Android

The protagonist of the game, Daniel, wakes up in an ancient castle, not understanding who he is, how he got here, or what happened. The only thing he experiences is a chilling sense of unease, as if something is haunting him and his allotted time is running out. It is only from a found note, signed with his own name, that he learns that he himself has chosen to forget the past in order to get rid of the severe wounds of his soul.

In an attempt to understand what is happening, Daniel will have to explore the darkest corners of the castle and see the terrifying inhabitants of the place, each meeting with whom threatens him with imminent death. Facing the ghost of his past, Daniel will find salvation or perish.

Differences from the original game:

  • 1:1 recreation of the entire game on the Unity engine, making Amnesia VR possible;
  • Completely redesigned controls, meticulously adapted to virtual reality controllers - open doors, pull levers and turn valves as if the main character's hands were your hands;
  • Safe mode, similar to similar modes in other Frictional Games projects. Monsters in the castle are absent, and events related to their appearance are cut. The lantern does not consume oil when in use. Suitable for impressionable players who want to experience the atmosphere and story without harming their psyche;
  • PSX mode, changing the graphics and music of the game to match the PlayStation 1 aesthetic. Play the famous horror game as if it was released in the 90's.

I'm japanese, so I want to play in Japanese

PC version, I put the translated .lang files in the Sclerosis_custom_translation folder and set the language to Custom in the settings, then I can play in Japanese.

Quest version also has “Custom” in the language settings, where should I put the .lang file?

The standalone Quest version does not provide this feature

I understand.

I hope this feature will be implemented in the Quest version someday

Thanks for the update.

I installed on my Quest3 and confirmed that I can play in Japanese

Thank you so much!

Is this with teleport or normal movement? I'm new to VR and "normal" movement makes me nauseous.

EDIT : gave it a try and teleport movement doesn't work. Only continuous works. Might not be able to play this because of the motion sickness.

You get used to motion sickness after you play for a while with normal movements. How long do you own your headset?

Recently found out about this mod when looking for a SOMA VR mod, so I'm making a comment months after the last one lol.

Incredible remake! tried on the Quest 2 as well as PCVR, and besides from a very minor texture downgrade, it runs perfectly on Balanced graphics with shadows on, genuinely looks better then many AAA native Quest games.

100% one of the best looking Quest 2 ports for any VR game I've played

It also made me feel like I was playing Amnesia for the first time again which deserves massive props in it's own rights lol

Thank you for this creepytastic VR remake. Tons of options and multiple game modes, what a great addition to the VR game library. Salute 🫡

Thank you very  much for doing this remake. It plays great in both PCVR version and Android one on Quest 3. Impressive work, you are awesome!

Tried to run it on Linux through Proton but it doesn't seem to work. First tried with the Steam version, it apparently launched Amnesia but would never show graphics. Then tried using the Amnesia_NonSteam.exe executable instead of Amnesia.exe, nothing. Then I downloaded my GOG version and tried it with Sclerosis, it would just show the unity screen and bail out. Any tips?

Hey, does this work with the GOG version of the game?

gave up and just bought it on steam lmaoo

Superb, this must've been a LOT of work, can't believe it's free. How about doing this for the Penumbra games next? And then SOMA? If you have a Patreon I'll support such an endeavor.

No planned yet

Understandable. Again, Sclerosis is a lot of hard work you're giving away for free. I can imagine you'd have cold feet about doing it all over again. But if I were you, I'd approach Frictional. They stand to gain from a partnership with you, as they could outsource to your team the project of remastering their older games as VR supported titles in the Unity engine, without taking time out from developing their new game projects. In their position I would find such a proposal very enticing.

I have made many attempts to contact FG already. Apparently, they are not interested in such partnership

A baffling shame. What a prospect it would be if they could hand off games for VR conversion to a dedicated sub-team so it doesn't hamper work on their current game project. It seems like a winning proposition to me

Is it possible to rebind the controls? I can only use one hand. Fitting everything on one controller can be my concern but I did not find a way to rebind the controls at all.
>inb4 "you have one hand stop playing VR games"

I was able to get your VR remake approved on SteamGridDB, so now others (along with me and you), can make assets and upload them! Here is the link, in case you are curious: https://www.steamgriddb.com/game/5437493

thank you a lo

It's been along time that I've played the original story of Amnesia, and now I can redo it in VR? erm yes please, it's a good excuse to play the game again, I have came across a bug that if you drop something while in your inventory, you lose your belt and cant access the inventory, you have to go through a loading screen door to get it back, But I am enjoying the mod so far and it's nice to be playing Amnesia in VR, nice job

Could you make a Mono build of this game? It would be more easy for me to mod.

(+2)(-1)

I don't plan on making the game available for modding

Hi. Try and will be glorious but I fall FPS all time in RTX 4090. Solve that fall fps problem and VR Mod is glorious. Thanks for your job

Wow! One of my favorite games! I will try it with the Pimax Crystal! Where can I throw some money at you?

Is the source code available anywhere?
